Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A SESSION?
I highly encourage you to pick multiple outfits that work well for you to get on and off your horse with ease. Keep in mind the season you are shooting in and dress accordingly. I always encourage hair and makeup but remember to do what feels right for you!
Your horse should be prepped like you would at a show. Make sure your leather is clean and ready as well. Some people also find that lunging before a session can help to calm the horse and make the entire session a bit more relaxed. You are always more than welcome to have a second person there to help if need be.
What location and time do you usually shoot?
I want to make sure your horse feels at home and relaxed. I usually like to stick with the open fields and barns that they call home. I can flex on location if there is somewhere else you would rather go and are willing to trailer them to the location. I will plan accordingly.
I prefer to shoot early in the morning or in the evening. Shooting in the middle of the day will lead to very harsh lighting and unflattering photos. We will discuss what works best into your schedule and plan for those times. I book one morning and one evening session per day.
Are travel fees apart of the price or extra ?
Travel fees will always be discussed before you book. If I do not mention a travel fee then they will not apply. Travel fees are a flat rate for all customers, no exceptions. This will apply to any travel outside of eastern Nebraska that require distance driving or flying.
When is payment due and how does that work?
You will be sent an access link to the billing portal through HoneyBook. When you book a session you will have the option to pay half up front and the rest one week before the session or pay in full. Full payment must be received one week prior to the shoot. The session will only be refunded if it is cancelled due to inclement weather and cannot be rescheduled. If I also fail to make the shoot for any reason you will be refunded.
